Dallas - The Series Returns!

Many of you didn't watch Dallas during it's original run in the late 70's and 80's. I remember my parents watching the show and I even got hooked eventually on the intrigue, money and total abuse of power. It's the grand daddy of primetime soap operas and "Who Shot JR" started the cliffhanger trend that so many shows, including my favorite sci-fi shows, use decades later.

If you haven't heard, because you are living under a rock, Dallas is returning to television in a few short days on TNT. They've been pushing the show hard since last summer and have definitely got anticipation running high. The reviews are starting to come in, and they are very good. With the return we get three of the original actors who played J.R., Bobby and Sue Ellen; along with a new young cast for the 21st century. So there will be plenty of money, sex and dirty dealing.

Andy Ihnatko: WWDC 2012 Keynote Wrap-Up

Over on the Chicago Sun Times prolific tech columnist and podcaster Andy Ihnatko has written some 2000+ words to cover yesterday's WWDC 2012 Keynote. As always he does a great job of touching on all the important details as well as throwing in the occasional informed commentary. Over the coming weeks and months I would expect to see a fair amount of additional commentary on and reviews of all the products announced today. Typically I think he is spot on with his assessments of Apple and technology in general. This article is no different.

You will find his article over on the Chicago Sun Times website, or you can just click on the link below. I'm sure he will be writting simillar articles on the upcoming Google developers conference and Microsoft has one near year's end that will complete the picture of what the big three have planned for 2013.

WWDC 2012 Keynote Announcements

My friend over at the MoxieMoShow.com has a quick run down of all the major announcements from Apple's WWDC 2012 keynote address. The basics are this though: Snow Lion in July for $19.99, iOS 6 in Fall for Free, MacBook Air updates, MacBook Pro updates, NEW Retina MacBook Pro for $2199 and Siri comes to the iPad. If you want to see the Keynote then pop over to Apple's Event website for the Apple WWDC 2012 Keynote Address. Be warned, it's nearly 2 hours long; but enjoyable if you are an Apple aficionado. If not, the MoxieMo video below is perfect!

I'll post some of my thoughts later in the week.

Brave - Coming Soon "Families Legend" Trailer

If you think modern animation you probably think Pixar. There was a time when you thought Disney. Of course a few years back Disney bought Pixar so now when you think modern animation you can again think "Disney." Does it really matter? NOPE! I really don't care who is doing the animation as long as the story is good and the animation is flawless. That being said, the Pixar team still does it the best, and to date hasn't had a single flop. Their latest creation is Brave and from the trailers, it does seem they may very well have yet another hit on their hands. Poor Pixar, must be difficult to never know failure. What's Brave about? Really, does it matter? Pixar made it and you should go see it! Okay, if you must know, here is the official movie description:

"Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse."

Enjoy the trailer!

Coming Soon - Expendables 2 (Trailer)

My daughter and I went to go see the first one in the theater. We had seen the trailer and thought, "could be a good movie." She liked the action. I liked the action and all my favorite action stars from my younger days. Turned out to be a fun popcorn movie that she loved so much she asked for it for Christmas. Now the summer of sequels continues with the Expendables 2 coming in August. I'm not going to go on and on, just watch the trailer and check out all new faces and a few that get a lot more screen time than the last go around.

Coming Soon - The Hobbit (Trailer)

Continuing the onslaught of movies with high expectations is Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. This movie isn't a sequel, but actually a totally different story that pre-dates the events of The Lord of the Rings by many decades. Some of the characters we all grew to love will be seen with many new ones. The "Ring" is part of the story, but isn't the story. Coming in December it's sure to be a crowd pleaser, but expect to hear many a cry when the movie ends as the second part won't hit theaters until December 2013. Just like with The Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson filmed the entire movie at one time; but is editing each part in succession.

I was a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings and look forward to watching them all again this Fall in preparation for my return to Middle Earth.
