Brave - Coming Soon "Families Legend" Trailer

If you think modern animation you probably think Pixar. There was a time when you thought Disney. Of course a few years back Disney bought Pixar so now when you think modern animation you can again think "Disney." Does it really matter? NOPE! I really don't care who is doing the animation as long as the story is good and the animation is flawless. That being said, the Pixar team still does it the best, and to date hasn't had a single flop. Their latest creation is Brave and from the trailers, it does seem they may very well have yet another hit on their hands. Poor Pixar, must be difficult to never know failure. What's Brave about? Really, does it matter? Pixar made it and you should go see it! Okay, if you must know, here is the official movie description:

"Determined to make her own path in life, Princess Merida defies a custom that brings chaos to her kingdom. Granted one wish, Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse."

Enjoy the trailer!

Coming Soon - Expendables 2 (Trailer)

My daughter and I went to go see the first one in the theater. We had seen the trailer and thought, "could be a good movie." She liked the action. I liked the action and all my favorite action stars from my younger days. Turned out to be a fun popcorn movie that she loved so much she asked for it for Christmas. Now the summer of sequels continues with the Expendables 2 coming in August. I'm not going to go on and on, just watch the trailer and check out all new faces and a few that get a lot more screen time than the last go around.

Coming Soon - The Hobbit (Trailer)

Continuing the onslaught of movies with high expectations is Peter Jackson's The Hobbit. This movie isn't a sequel, but actually a totally different story that pre-dates the events of The Lord of the Rings by many decades. Some of the characters we all grew to love will be seen with many new ones. The "Ring" is part of the story, but isn't the story. Coming in December it's sure to be a crowd pleaser, but expect to hear many a cry when the movie ends as the second part won't hit theaters until December 2013. Just like with The Lord of the Rings, Peter Jackson filmed the entire movie at one time; but is editing each part in succession.

I was a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings and look forward to watching them all again this Fall in preparation for my return to Middle Earth.

Coming Soon - SkyFall (Teaser Trailer)

2012 is looking to be a better year in movies than 2011, a better year. In November the 3rd installment of James Bond reboot hits theaters. Not much is known about the plot, but suffice it to say James Bond will have evil bad guys to fight and a license to do what's necessary to save Queen and country. The official premise of SkyFall: "James Bond's loyalty to M is challenged over secrets from her past. When MI6 is attacked, it falls to Bond to seek out and eliminate the threat regardless of the cost to himself."

This installment continues the trend of slowing bringing back elements of the original series. In SkyFall, the 23rd Bond movie, "Q" returns to the series, played by Ben Whishaw. So we can expect to see some cool gadgets and maybe a little wit between "Q" and Bond. I've no idea who Ben Whishaw is, but I'm betting we will all know his face a little better in 2013. Judi Dench returns as the steely eyed "M" and Daniel Craig returns for what may be his last turn as James Bond, 007.

The James Bond franchise is now 50 years old, but lucky for us this oldest ever movie franchise still knocks them dead at the theater. Proof, along with Batman, that a reboot isn't always a bad thing.

Coming Soon - The Dark Knight Rises (Trailer 3)

On July 20th the last chapter of Christopher Nolan's Batman series comes to what appears will be a very climatic and extremely cinematic end. There are just two questions. First, can it really be better than The Dark Knight. The second question, will Christopher Nolan actually kill Batman at the end of the movie bringing Bruce Wayne's story to a very tragic yet poetic end? We won't know until later this summer, but from the start of the film until the credits roll one thing is for certain, it will be one hell of a ride. For now, enjoy this 3rd and presumably last trailer to The Dark Knight Rises.

Video of the Week: 8/10 - Trailer 2012

I love trailers, and whether this movie is good or not... the trailer sure is fun. It's coming out in November, which seems like a strange release date for a movie like this; but November isn't a throwaway month either. Day After Tomorrow was a similar movie and made by the same folks. Cool special effects. Lots of destruction. The world on the edge of oblivion. Who knows, maybe a Mac will save the day! Okay, probably not, but it did in Independence Day and that was made by the same folks too. Enjoy the trailer to - 2012.
