POC: On Stranger Tides

On Stranger TidesToday Tracy, Krisite and I are going to go see Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. We've seen all of them and have enjoyed them all. No they won't win Oscars for acting or writing, but they are FUN!! Johnny Depp is a blast as Captain Jack Sparrow, and Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa always seems to steal the scene. With Ian McShane joining this latest voyage as Blackbeard and Penelope Cruz as a new vixen; it should be a wild ride.

I don't care if there will be a 5 and 6, just looking forward to having fun with number 4.

Medieval Times

Tonight I'm taking the family to Medieval Times to celebrate one of our daughters 18th birthday. I've been before, but only once. Our youngest has never been, and the others have been several times. If you haven't heard of Medieval Times before, have you seen The Cable Guy?There is a scene in that movie that takes place in one of the Medieval Times.Basically it's a 2 hour event that includes watching various medieval equestrian events like jousting while you enjoy a multicourse meal served by a multitude of serving wenches in medieval style. In other words you are left to tear, cut and scoop with only the eating utensils you were born with: fingers and teeth. It's all about the atmoshphere. It's not inexpensive, $60 a ticket, but it's also not something you do with any regularity. The events and the food don't change much over time, so what you saw last year will be simillar to what you see this year; but the same can be said of a broadway show, and you don't get to tear at a chicken on broadway! It's a fun way to celebrate her birthday and more important it's what she wanted to do for birthday number 18. Wow, I've got an 18 year old daughter??!?

Titus Has a Little Fun

I edited this video together yesterday from video I took while Brion, Rachel and Titus were here. The video quality isn't great, but then it was taken on an iPhone. We had a great time while my brother and his family were here. We didn't get to spend a great deal of time with them, busy lives and all; but we did get some quality time together. Titus was a joy and reminds me so much of Brion; looks like him too. I have a photo of Brion at that age and it's amazing how much they look alike.

Brion, hope your trip home was safe. Enjoy the video, and should YOU "upgrade" to an iPhone, be sure to send me lots of videos. We can add them to the family collection on KWTV.

I'm also making this my Video of the Week!

Quiet Labor Day Weekend

It's been a pretty quiet labor day weekend for the family. Tracy is hard at work at finishing up her undergraduate degree, so if she is awake and not at work she's studying. So the kids and I do our best to stay quiet and out of her way; to varying degrees of success. She would say to ZERO degrees of success; but I'm telling the story, not her. (smile honey) Friday was a late night for everyone because Kristie had an away game in Arlington and didn't get back to school until after midnight. Which meant I had to stay up until then to pick her up. I don't stay up that late very much anymore, now that I'm old dodger with two grandkids. I mean, 39 is the nearing the end of the road right?

Saturday turned out to be quite the long day, and my arms and legs are still suffering. Kristie and I started the day off heading to WillowBend mall for lunch and then Kristie took advantage of a makeover she won from the Bodyshop. After that we did some shopping, she had birthday gift cards to use, and we had to pick-up Courtney from work and ferry her over to the boyfriends house. After that it was back home to spend some time with Tracy and then back out again to Main Event. That's where the soar arms and legs comes into play.

We went there for bowling and games. The bowling took out my arms, that and several games of air hockey. The legs took a beating during a game of laser tag. I hadn't played laser tag in years! We had a blast, well, I did anyway. You may have noticed there is a video posted of Kristie playing various games and bowling. None of me, because I didn't think to had the camera over to her. Oh well, next time.

Sunday was a little quieter, although the Kelly Car Service was still in demand. The day was Tracy's day with Kristie, and they were off to the movies. Some chick flick about a guy who keeps disappearing - traveling through time or something. Guys, can we use that excuse and actually get away with it? Only in a chick flick would a girl go for that excuse. Sunday night Courtney headed back over to spend time with the boyfriend (still need to look into access the CIA's real time satellite cameras) and Kristie was off to a birthday/slumber party. Apparently the agenda was - MORE BOWLING. For me it was a quiet night... but go figure there isn't exactly much on video or in the theaters I want to see.

Today was another quiet day. As the hours tick by and the sun sets on Labor Day 2009, I wish for another quiet day. Alas, I have to wait 4 days. Does anyone other than me find it ironic that on Labor Day we all strive our very best to labor as little as possible? Heck, I'm in management should I even get to celebrate Labor Day? Hmm, I won't tell if you won't!

KellysWorld TV - YouTube Channel

I've joined the ranks of YouTube publishers this weekend. I now have the ability to take videos on the go, edit them in iMovie and then publish them easily to YouTube. If you go to http://www.youtube.com/user/kspore then you can see my new channel. I've also created a page on my website called KellysWorld TV. There you will find favorite videos easily viewable. Either way works, at least for now. When I post a video it should automatically post to FaceBook and Twitter as well. So for those of you that follow me on either service you should know whenever I add a new video.

I'm not claiming to be the next Steven Spielberg or anything close, but I will try and produce video with a bit more flair than just raw video.
