Our for a walk a few days ago and took this photo of the old track next to the grain depot in Frisco. The primary tracks still exist on the other side of the depot but this track has been abandoned like the grain depot.
Self Portrait - September 2021
I’m lousy at self portraits, but then I’m a lousy subject of any photo. This time though I did get a decent image. I’ve included the favorite as well as the ones that show basically how I got there.
PhotoMoment: A New Profile Pic
Sometimes a new self portrait, or selfie, is just good enough to be your new social media profile pic. This one I took the other night while on my couch. It’s different than my usual profile photos. I edited it to black and white too, just because I like the look.
PhotoMoment: Guinness
Who doesn’t like a delicious Guinness at the end of the day. This photo taken with the iPhone 12 Pro Max using Portrait Mode.
PhotoMoment: The US Flag
I took this back on Independence Day weekend. It’s the flag in front of Jakes Burgers in Frisco. It’s a simple photo to capture a moment of pride in my nation. We aren’t perfect but we do usually try.
PhotoMoment: Farm Fresh Eggs
While at the Fresh Frisco market I was taking photos of pumpkins, while taking a few photos of the pumpkins I noticed the stall with the Farm Fresh Eggs. That stall just oozed character, especially their sign. I took a few photos with the sign just as part of the background, then took a photo of just the vendor stall itself. They all turned out far better than I expected.
PhotoMoment: Pumpkins of October
When I go out to take photos what usually gets my attention are textures. Even a flat surface almost always has some texture to it. Look at a wall or even a sidewalk, flat but texture. When you start looking at something like a pumpkin, we often think of them as being smooth but actually they have an amazing amount of texture. From the creases that form that unique shape to the skin of the pumpkin riddled with imperfections that make pumpkins perfect for photos.
PhotoMoment: Guinness!
I enjoy many types of beer, the occasional earthy glass of wine and there’s absolutely nothing wrong with a fruity frozen concoction; but when I want a truly great “adult beverage” I choose Guinness. Some feel it too dark, others too bitter; but for me it sips the way a great beer should and goes down smooth. Every drop is delicious from beginning to end. Just good stuff.
Currently my favorite place to enjoy a pint or two of “mother’s milk” is at First Round Draft Bar & Grill. They serve their Guinness the right way using a nitrogen tap that is cleaned regularly. I’ve had the pleasure of frequenting their pub since they opened, so much so I earned myself my own glass to enjoy that very delicious pint of Guinness.
PhotoMoment: A Kid and His Bear
This was just a photo waiting to happen. While I walked around the Frisco Fresh Market I witness this little one in his stroller holding on to his “security bear.” Don’t we all wish we had a “security bear” to keep us comfy in those moments of high stress.
PhotoMoment: Simpson Plaza Fountain
I live steps away from this very simple fountain. It’s not an amazing work of architecture or a particularly beautiful fountain; but it is fun to shoot. From the right angle the fountain takes on a new dimension and simplistic beauty. It’s also just a great way to practice my photography. This is my most recent attempt.
