HistoryNow: Biden Elected

The election is seemingly over, although there is still a great deal of procedure yet for the government to complete before Biden can take the oath of office on January 21st, 2021. There are also lawsuits that President Trump has filed in multiple states, but most legal experts seem to think they’ll have no impact on the final result even if the courts are favorable to Trump’s litigation.
Biden gave the traditional I’m the President of every American speech. The “Uniter not a Divider” speech. George Bush famously gave that speech back in 2000, also after a bitterly contested Election Day. Only time will tell. Personally I believe our nation so divided already that uniting won’t be easy. Bush didn’t succeed beyond the nation coming together after 9/11. Biden has COVID-19, but even 9/11 turned political and COVID-19 has been political since day 1. Which brings me back to “only time will tell.”

HistoryNow: Return to Manned Space Flight

Today was a huge moment in the history of manned space fight. It’s probabky not a moment that will be remembered in the way of Apollo 11 or even The Shuttle Discovery’s first launch. Nevertheless it’s a milestone moment. First and foremost it marked the successful return of the United States of America to manned space flight.

Second, and arguably more impressively, it marks the first time a private company launched a human into orbit. SpaceX, led by the divisive yet brilliant Elon Musk, has made amazing strides in space launch technology. The future of space travel is bright and very privately funded.

This is just one launch, one mission to the ISS, but more will surely follow. It’s a proud day for America and American industry.

HistoryNow: Strange Times

The pandemic has had an immeasurable and strange impact on the world. As the world shuts down the situation calls for change in how we conduct business. Here in Texas it’s brought forth the ability to have “booze to go.” A concept that is illegal in Texas, but due to the pandemic the Governor has temporarily made ordering alcoholic beverages with a meal legal. I didn’t see this coming.
