Movie Review: The Expendables 2

My daughter and I really enjoyed the The Expendables two summers ago. It turned out to be my daughter's (17 years old) favorite movie. Shocking to me considering the stars of the movie were action stars when I was her age. What wasn't to love though if you enjoy a good action flick that puts the plot where it needs to be... the back seat. The Expendables wasn't a great movie, but it was a seriously fun ride. Seeing Stallone, Willis and Swartzenager all on screen at the exact same time was just BONUS!

When news that the inevitable sequel was is production and that not only would we see MORE of Willis and Swartzenager, but also Chuck Norris and Van Damn; quite simply we were excited - SIGN US UP! We knew the movie would again be short on plot while heavy on action. We didn't care, that's what we wanted!

Time Lapse: Paris In Motion

If you like me love time lapse photography then you are going to enjoy the video below. It's of Paris, but done in a way I don't see often. It jumps from location to location as well as day time to night time. The artist also uses movement. At times forward movement through a location. At times horizontal movement across a venue. Finally at times, he lets the lens sit still while action happens all around. To me it's masterful work of a genre of photography that few truly master.

Apple Recruitment Video - Philosophy

This has been making it's way around the web. It may be pulled down by Apple since it's unlikely they wanted it in the wild. Nothing earth shattering or negative, just Apple likes to control the message. Basically the video tells you Apple's philosophy in the words of Apple employees. If I were to guess it's not a new video, but probably produced last year. It's very short, less than 5 minutes, but has the Apple polish you expect from their marketing team.

Twitter Lists - Get Into Twitter

I joined Twitter back in September of 2007 as one of the early adopters, but even still I was member 8,845,922. Now there are hundreds of millions of users, with some saying we are approaching over 250 million active users before the end of the year. Twitter is truly mainstream. Don't have a twitter account? Get one! Twitter is great, but only if you are following people. If you are the only one on your feed, you are literally talking to yourself. While you will hear many talk about how many people follow them, it's really about how many people you follow and to a lesser extent how many people you share a bi-direction relationship. In other words you follow each other.

Not sure who to follow? Below are some of my lists. They are tech heavy, but there is a fair mix of actors, news people and politicians.

WWDC Keynote 2012 (HD Video)

On June 11th Apple gave their annual WWDC keynote address. While they released the video of the keynote on their website that same day, they didn't make an HD version immediately available. On the 15th they posted a high qualify HD version on YouTube of the entire event. If you haven't watched yet, then here's your opportunity. Be warned, as I said last week it's a long one, clocking in at nearly 2 hours. If you are expecting to see a new iPhone, this isn't the keynote for you. Check back in September or October.
