Good article. I do though think that two automatic backups could be a bit much for most. I'm telling friends to use iCloud backup all the time and force a manual iTunes backup.

On Friday the iPhone 4S goes on sale. Tomorrow, Wednesday, iOS 5 becomes available to the general public as a free upgrade for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad & iPad 2 owners. Basically it's a big week for users of Apple handheld mobile products. (Btw, if you haven't already pre-orderd yours, you have at least a 2 week wait.) Today it seems the embargo on talking about the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 was lifted. Many of the big technology columnists have already posted their iPhone 4S reviews. I've read them all and so far they are extremely positive. Especially when it comes to Siri.
The other thing many of them said was that if you own an iPhone 4, there isn't a need to "rush" and buy the upgrade. iOS 5 will bring most of the new features; but not Siri. The other big new feature of the iPhone 4S is the camera. The still camera can shoot at 8 megapixles with a pretty wide open F-Stop. The video camera can shoot 1080p video. The samples I've seen so far are pretty amazing for a phone.

Maybe in honor of Steve Job's life and his push for making better products and better technology; we can halt "trash talk" of Android, iOS, Mac, iPhone, Google, iPad, Microsoft and all the other battles along nearly religious arguments that we see so much of these days. Just a thought... Let's all just love our technology the way Steve Job's loved technology.
You know the iPad, how could you not. You know the iPhone, you see them everywhere. Over 200,000,000 iOS devices have been sold to date. Its hard not to see at least one of them daily. Most would say Apple's iOS devices are an unqualified success.
Many forget that the iPhone and iPad were not Apple's first foray into the world of personal digital assistants. In the 90's Apple had the "Newton." It was one of the very first PDA's, but it's success was far less certain. While some still exist today, the Newton was shelved by Steve Jobs in 1997 shortly after his return.
Amazingly the Newton did much of what the iPhone or iPad do today, but in ways that will seem ancient to anyone under 25. Check out the modem. The Newton could fax too, the iPhone can't fax.
This commercial will give you a very good idea of the Newton. I actually held one years ago. It was truly ahead of it's time. Just too big and too expensive for what it could do.
Don't be bored with that old background every again. Why be stuck with that same stale Windows background. Does your iPhone's stock background bore you? Maybe the black lock-screen has you down? There is a website you must check out that can supply background for every screen in your house; even your 55" TV!
