Here is another article by Orson Scott Card. I can't speak to the validity of his statements nor the ones made by Steve Berry, Author of Alexandria link; none-the-less the article itself is very interesting. If political thoughts and statements don't do anything for you, still consider reading. You probably like fiction and his argument is a good one for anyone that ever wonders the affect fiction has on what people think of history. Oh, and when I say politics I really mean in the classical sense, not the "I Hate Clinton," or "I Hate Bush category of politics."

I've not read Mr. Berry's book so I can't speak to how well it is written. I assume it is pulp fiction; which is basically where Orson Scott Card lands as well; basically they are both popular fiction writers of our era. They seem though to have different viewpoints on history. I've provided a little of the article for your review, the rest will be on his site and I've provided that link as well.

Let me tell you about an audiobook that I hated.

I didn't hate it because it was badly written -- it was mediocre in the way that mediocre thrillers usually are, and that means it would ordinarily have been tolerable.
No, the reason I stopped listening to Steve Berry's The Alexandria Link is that this book is evil.

I don't mean it's about evil. I don't even mean that it is evil-porn, like those horror books whose authors are pervertedly devoted to thinking up cool ways to torture and kill people.

I mean that this book, to the degree that it is read by people ignorant of history (i.e., practically everybody), will move us closer to a future in which our society permits or even approves of the murder of Jews and the destruction of the state of Israel.

Wait! This book is fiction! How could it have such an effect?

Well, it can't -- not all by itself. Its effect is incremental. But it's real. READ THE ARTICLE
