10/12/11 iTunes Terms & Conditions
If you are ready to read a novel, here are the latest “T’s” and “C’s” from Apple for iTunes. Good news, first few paragraphs are the summary. Bad news, this is one long document!
Terms and Conditions and Apple Privacy Policy
The changes we have made to the terms and conditions include the following:
• Update of iTunes terms and conditions and/or certain usage rules to reflect changes to available content types;

• New terms have been added that explain that use of iTunes Match requires collection of certain information from your iTunes library which shall be associated with your Account.

iPhone 4S Reviews
On Friday the iPhone 4S goes on sale. Tomorrow, Wednesday, iOS 5 becomes available to the general public as a free upgrade for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad & iPad 2 owners. Basically it’s a big week for users of Apple handheld mobile products. (Btw, if you haven’t already pre-orderd yours, you have at least a 2 week wait.)
Today it seems the embargo on talking about the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 was lifted. Many of the big technology columnists have already posted their iPhone 4S reviews. I’ve read them all and so far they are extremely positive. Especially when it comes to Siri.
The other thing many of them said was that if you own an iPhone 4, there isn’t a need to “rush” and buy the upgrade. iOS 5 will bring most of the new features; but not Siri. The other big new feature of the iPhone 4S is the camera. The still camera can shoot at 8 megapixles with a pretty wide open F-Stop. The video camera can shoot 1080p video. The samples I’ve seen so far are pretty amazing for a phone.
Take a look at the reviews below. I will add more reviews as they are published. I’ve also included two videos. One from Jason Snell about Siri, and another video from MG Siegler showing 1080p video.
- Walt Mossberg - AllThingsD
- MS Siegler - Techcrunch
- David Pogue - New York Times
- Brian Chen - Wired Magazine
- Jason Snell - Macworld Magazine

What’s so great about Siri?
Very interesting article about the foundations of Siri and how it compares to Androids voice commands. I can’t pass judgement until I use it.

CNN Tribute to Steve Jobs
Today Steve Jobs was buried. While the light of his life has been extinguished, the light of his spirit will live on for decades to come. He will be spoken of in much the same way as Thomas Edison and Henry Ford. He was one of the truly great innovators of not just our time, but all time. Not only that he was one of the great showman too. P.T. Barnum would be proud of how Steve Jobs could captivate an audience; spinning his “reality distortion field” as he showed off “one more thing.” He has died, but he has not left us.
The video below was put together by CNN. It’s a wonderful walk down the public life of Steve Jobs. Many great moments that iPod, iPhone and iPad owners might just remember with great fondness.
Little Known iOS 5 Features – MacWorld
This is a good article showing a few of the features of iOS 5 that haven’t gotten much press.

The Apple Newton – The Original iPad
You know the iPad, how could you not. You know the iPhone, you see them everywhere. Over 200,000,000 iOS devices have been sold to date. Its hard not to see at least one of them daily. Most would say Apple’s iOS devices are an unqualified success.
Many forget that the iPhone and iPad were not Apple’s first foray into the world of personal digital assistants. In the 90′s Apple had the “Newton.” It was one of the very first PDA’s, but it’s success was far less certain. While some still exist today, the Newton was shelved by Steve Jobs in 1997 shortly after his return.
Amazingly the Newton did much of what the iPhone or iPad do today, but in ways that will seem ancient to anyone under 25. Check out the modem. The Newton could fax too, the iPhone can’t fax.
This commercial will give you a very good idea of the Newton. I actually held one years ago. It was truly ahead of it’s time. Just too big and too expensive for what it could do.
