Good article. I do though think that two automatic backups could be a bit much for most. I’m telling friends to use iCloud backup all the time and force a manual iTunes backup.

Excellent info.

iPhone 4S Reviews

On Friday the iPhone 4S goes on sale. Tomorrow, Wednesday, iOS 5 becomes available to the general public as a free upgrade for iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPad & iPad 2 owners. Basically it’s a big week for users of Apple handheld mobile products. (Btw, if you haven’t already pre-orderd yours, you have at least a 2 week wait.)

Today it seems the embargo on talking about the iPhone 4S and iOS 5 was lifted. Many of the big technology columnists have already posted their iPhone 4S reviews. I’ve read them all and so far they are extremely positive. Especially when it comes to Siri.

iPhone 4S with SiriThe other thing many of them said was that if you own an iPhone 4, there isn’t a need to “rush” and buy the upgrade. iOS 5 will bring most of the new features; but not Siri. The other big new feature of the iPhone 4S is the camera. The still camera can shoot at 8 megapixles with a pretty wide open F-Stop. The video camera can shoot 1080p video. The samples I’ve seen so far are pretty amazing for a phone.

Take a look at the reviews below. I will add more reviews as they are published. I’ve also included two videos. One from Jason Snell about Siri, and another video from MG Siegler showing 1080p video.

Here is the video from Macworld about Siri:

Very interesting article about the foundations of Siri and how it compares to Androids voice commands. I can’t pass judgement until I use it.

Could We: In Honor of Steve Job’s Life

Maybe in honor of Steve Job's life and his push for making better products and better technology; we can halt "trash talk" of Android, iOS, Mac, iPhone, Google, iPad, Microsoft and all the other battles along nearly religious arguments that we see so much of these days. Just a thought… Let's all just love our technology the way Steve Job's loved technology.

The iPad Trance

iPad TranceI took this photo a few weeks ago and just love it. The photo effect gives it impact, but the subject is what gives it heart. In the photo are my daughter and her two nephews, my grandsons. They are just playing a game on the iPad, but it has their full attention. Look at those faces!

Getting the full attention of my daughter isn’t that hard, but getting the full attention of my grand kids for more than a few minutes is amazing. Every time they come over my oldest grandson asks me “grandpa, can I play birds?” He loves to play Angry Birds, but also just looks around to see what other games I have on my iPad and attempts to play them as well. Originally I just showed him how to hold it and gave him a quick demo of getting to an app, that’s it. He figured the rest out on his own. He was four years old the first time.

When the grandkids are playing with the iPad, it really does put them in a trance. Not in a bad way either, they concentrate. It’s not like watching TV, in my opinion, it’s far more interactive; especially for them. It’s not something I would give them to play with for long periods of time, eventually they do bore, but for a while I will hand over my precision iPad for the greater good; and a little quiet.
